I was asked to set the type for this group art exhibit flier. The design needed to work for in-person as well as mail distribution.

The background artwork was supplied by one of the featured artists, which I cropped and positioned to support legibility with space to add a delivery address using either pen or label. The fliers were printed on two sides with glossy card stock. I chose to work with Futura Condensed Medium for it’s bold and readable characters that are also forgiving of limited space.

The challenge of typesetting a list of names that nearly fills an entire canvas is making each name stand out as a separate entity while complementing the whole. Close attention is paid to the letter spacing of each name so that the artists are represented with equal honor and clarity. The order of names was determined with distribution of weight and space in mind.
